Newcomer Vicky Kaushal, who has won rave reviews for his restrained performance in Karan Johar’s co-production ‘Raazi’ (2018), is set to join hands with the celebrated filmmaker once again for an upcoming film. To be produced under the banner of Dharma Productions, the untitled film will mark the directorial debut of Bhanu Pratap Singh who has previously assisted many filmmakers, including Mozez Singh whose last directorial ‘Zubaan’ (2016) starred Vicky Kaushal in the lead role.
Revealing some more details, a source close to the development says that the film starring Vicky will be a horror movie which mounts the shooting floor by the end of the year. “It’s a horror film, a genre Vicky has never attempted before. The film will also be the launchpad for ‘Dhadak’ director Shashank Khaitan’s assistant Bhanu Pratap Singh who has worked with him on ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ (2014) and ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ (2017). The film goes on floors later this year in Mumbai.”
It looks like Vicky Kaushal is playing his cards quite wisely. He made his acting debut with an offbeat film like ‘Masaan’ (2015) and then starred in a musical drama ‘Zubaan’, before doing a dark and gritty Anurag Kashyap directorial ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’ (2016). His recent release ‘Raazi’ was an espionage thriller. In his next ‘Sanju’, he will be seen in a Gujarati character. And now, he has signed a horror flick.
Besides this untitled horror flick, Kaushal will also be seen in Ronnie Screwvala’s upcoming film ‘Uri’, which is based on the Uri Attacks of September 2016 in Kashmir. After playing the role of a Pakistani Army officer in ‘Raazi’, the actor essays the character of a Para Commando in Special Forces. Actress Yami Gautam stars as his love interest in the movie.
