The runaway success of Meghna Gulzar’s espionage drama ‘Raazi’ (2018), which entered the coveted Rs. 100 crore club within days of its release, has proved one fact quite clearly that Alia Bhatt is the latest female superstar of Bollywood, who does not need an A-list actor for her movies to pull audiences to theatres. The actress, who debuted with Karan Johar’s college romance drama ‘Student of the Year’ (2012), has strengthened her position in showbiz with every new film of hers, but the way ‘Raazi’ has been trending ever since its release on 11th May, is something phenomenal. Alia has always been many filmmakers’ favourite in Bollywood, but after the rousing success of ‘Raazi’, even the biggest of filmmakers are keen to collaborate with her.
The latest we hear that ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is, reportedly, planning a film keeping Alia Bhatt in mind. The director might sign her soon for one of his upcoming projects. “Alia is at that threshold of her career where she needs to move even further up. And only a director of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s calibre can give her career and her image an unexpected push that would take her even higher on the road to superstardom,” reveals a source close to the development.
The plot and other important details are being kept secret by the team at Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions. The makers will make an official announcement only when everything is in place.
Meanwhile, Alia is currently shooting for Dharma Productions’ multi-starrer ‘Kalank’, opposite Varun Dhawan. She is also preparing for Dharma Productions’ another mega-budgeted film ‘Brahmastra’, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy. Her next release will be Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy’, wherein she shares the screen space with Ranveer Singh. ‘Gully Boy’ releases on 14th February 2019.
