Filmmaker Karan Johar has announced some of the biggest projects in the past few months. While some have already gone on floors, others are waiting to begin their production soon. In between all this, his diehard fans have been waiting him to announce his next directorial venture. Karan last directed the Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma starrer ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (2016), which was a major success at the box-office. Since then he has been busy as a producer, bankrolling one mega project after another under Dharma Productions. But now, the ace filmmaker has confirmed that he is going to wield the megaphone very soon.
Karan, who celebrates his 46th birthday today, revealed to a National daily that he has locked the screenplay for his next film. He also added that he will start the casting process for the film as soon as he returns India after celebrating his birthday in New York. “I have locked a screenplay and I am going to direct a film around mid-next year. I look forward to casting for it as soon as I come back from New York.”
Well, if we keep his 2012 directorial ‘Student Of The Year’ aside, Karan has mostly worked with top actors of the industry. Be it his directorial debut ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ (1997) or his last release ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, all his films boast of some of the biggest actors of Bollywood. So, it will be interesting to see if Karan casts well-established actors for his next or he decides to go with fresh faces. We are now waiting for his return from New York to get more details on the casting process.
On the production front, Karan Johar’s upcoming projects include ‘Student Of The Year 2’, ‘Drive’, ‘Kalank’, ‘Brahmastra’, ‘Ranbhoomi’, ‘Dhadak’, and ‘Kesari’.
