I don’t like compromising when it comes to acting, affirms Rajkummar Rao

If there is one actor who can change his looks at the drop of a hat for his characters, it has to be multi-talented Rajkummar Rao. From playing a rookie clerk in the Oscar-nominated ‘Newton’ (2017) to essaying the role of dreaded British terrorist Omar Sheikh in Hansal Mehta’s ‘Omerta’ (2018), the actor can get into the skin of any character at the blink of an eye. The National award-winning star will be seen in a totally different avatar in his next film ‘Mental Hai Kya’. When Rao was asked about how he went about preparing his character for the movie, he said he attended a three-week-long workshop to get into the skin of the character.

“Whenever I get an opportunity, I do my best to undergo extreme transformation, be it going half-bald for ‘Bose: Dead/Alive’ (2017) or losing weight for ‘Trapped’ (2016). As an actor, I have to do whatever is required for my character. I don’t like compromising when it comes to acting,” the actor said.

Also starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead role, ‘Mental Hai Kya’ is being helmed by well-known south Indian filmmaker Prakash Kovelamudi. It is bankrolled by Ekta Kapoor under her production banner, Balaji Motion Pictures. The movie reunites Ranaut and Rao after a gap of four years. They were last seen in the 2014 film ‘Queen’ which went on to win many National Awards.

Besides ‘Mental Hai Kya’, Rajkummar Rao will also be seen in ‘Fanne Khan’, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ and ‘Stree’.
