Gone are the days when filmmaker Priyadarshan used to treat us with one or two rib-tickling comedies a year. The last comedy film which he directed is ‘Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal’ which hit the screen in 2012. In the last six years, the veteran filmmaker has not helmed any comic-caper and we sort of miss his movies sorely. Well, if recent reports are to be believed, Priyadarshan is coming back to helm a comedy film. And the icing on the cake it that his next directorial will be a sequel to his hit film ‘Bhagam Bhag’ (2006).
Starring an ensemble star cast of Akshay Kumar, Govinda, Paresh Rawal, Lara Dutta, Jackie Shroff and Arbaaz Khan in significant roles, ‘Bhagam Bhag’ was one of the most successful films of the year 2006. Now, after 12 years of its release, Priyadarshan is planning a sequel to the successful film.
The news has it that the National award-winning director is collaborating with action star Suniel Shetty for the sequel. For the uninitiated, ‘Bhagam Bhag’ was co-produced by Shetty along with Dhilin Mehta. But if insiders are to be believed, the actor is gearing up to play a pivotal part in the sequel.
Reportedly, Priyadarshan and Suniel have had several meetings in the last couple of months to discuss the project. Though it is still unclear who else will star in the sequel, source claim that the film will go the sets at the end of the year. The makers are planning to mount the movie on a lavish scale.
An official confirmation is awaited.
