After ‘Quantico’ star Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan, immensely talented Zaira Wasim has come onboard to star in filmmaker Shonali Bose’ next film which still remains to be untitled. The ‘Secret Superstar’ (2017) actress plays the protagonist with immune deficiency disorder in the movie.
“Zaira really liked the script and has given her nod to the project. Shonali is currently busy with the pre-production and is hoping to start shooting by the middle of this year in Mumbai. Priyanka and Abhishek will play parents to Zaira’s character,” informs a well-placed source to a tabloid.
The film is inspired by the true-life story of Aisha Chaudhary, a girl born with an immune deficiency disorder. Later, at the age of 13, she was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Chaudhary never let her disability come her way and went on to become a motivational speaker. She also authored a book, ‘My Little Epiphanies’. After living a short but inspiring life, she eventually breathed her last on January 24, 2015, at age 18.
It will not be the first time when Zaira Wasim plays a real-life based character onscreen. She played the childhood version of sportswoman Geeta Phogat in Aamir Khan’s critically and commercially successful film ‘Dangal’ (2016) to perfection and went on to win the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement by President Ram Nath Kovind.
The untitled project will be bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur.
An official announcement on the cast and shooting details is expected to arrive soon.
