Karan Johar’s bright student Alia Bhatt has come a long way in Bollywood ever since she made her acting debut with the filmmaker’s college romance drama ‘Student Of The Year’ (2012). Over the period of five years, the talented actress has proved her mettle by essaying a diverse range of roles in movies helmed by popular filmmakers of Bollywood. However, comedy is a genre Bhatt has not explored much in her career so far. But now, she wants to step into the comedy space also.
Yes, after starring in a series of intense and hard-hitting films such as ‘Highway’ (2014), ‘Udta Punjab’ (2016), ‘Kapoor & Sons’ (2016), ‘Dear Zindagi’ (2016) and more recently ‘Raazi’, Alia Bhatt is looking forward to trying her hand at an out-and-out comedy film. The bubbly actress has just been approached for a light-hearted movie which will be directed by ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ (2016) and ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ (2017) fame Ashwini Iyer Tiwari.
Talking about the film with Tiwari, Bhatt says, “They (the makers) have brought an extremely fun concept to me. I am very excited, as that’s going to be my breakaway film from all the serious ones (that I have been doing). Now, I am looking forward to doing a light-hearted film.”
Meanwhile, Alia will shortly be seen in Zoya Akhtar’s next directorial ‘Gully Boy’ opposite Ranveer Singh. It will be her first film with Akhtar and Singh. Her next big-ticket projects include Ayan Mukerji’s fantasy drama ‘Brahmastra’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor, and Abhishek Verman’s period film ‘Kalank’ opposite Varun Dhawan.
She also features in a special cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Zero’.
