Priyanka Chopra is not just one of the busiest stars in the world, she is also a busy producer. Under her production house, Purple Pebble Pictures, the multifaceted actor-producer has produced many regional films in the past couple of years, mostly in Marathi. She has now confirmed another Marathi production venture.
After ‘Ventilator’ (2016), ‘Kay Re Rascalaa’ (2017), and ‘Firebrand’ (2018), Priyanka Chopra is all set to bankroll her fourth Marathi venture called ‘Paani’. Confirming the development, Chopra shared that her next Marathi film will be based on a story inspired from a real-life incidence.
“This is what I had envisioned when starting Purple Pebble Pictures – a platform for good stories and new talent. ‘Paani’ is special because it’s based on a true story and deals with a very topical issue.”
“There are many stories that reflect the realities of the world we live in and I believe it’s very important to showcase them and bring that message to more people in a way that they can connect with,” Chopra said in the press release.
Starring Adinath Kothare, Rucha Vaidya, Kishor Kadam, Subodh Bhave, Girish Joshi and Rajit Kapoor in significant roles, ‘Paani’ is being helmed by Adinath Kothare. Set in drought-prone Marathwada, the film began production on 10th May.
Talking about Priyanka Chopra’s Bollywood projects, the former beauty queen is teaming up with superstar Salman Khan after 10 years for Ali Abbas Zafar’s forthcoming biggie ‘Bharat’. She is also rumoured to be joining hands with Abhishek Bachchan for ‘Margarita with a Straw’ (2014) fame filmmaker Sonali Bose’ next directorial venture, based on a real-life story.
