After the recently announced film ‘Satyamev Jayte’, John Abraham is all set to join forces with filmmaker Nikkhil Advani yet again for a new film called ‘Batla House’. As the name suggests itself, the film is based on an infamous real encounter which took place over a decade ago on September 19, 2008. John will be seen in the role of eight President Gallantry Awards real-life cop Sanjeev Kumar Yadav who spearheaded the Operation Batla House.
Talking about the film, John reveals, “We have yet to meet, but I’ve been devouring all the material on him, and from what I’ve read, he seems like a humble man with an interesting back-story.”
About reuniting with Nikkhil Advani once again, the handsome star says, “’D-Day’ (2013) has put him in a different space and after ‘Madras Café’ (2013) and ‘Parmanu’, I understand that space too. His eyes light up when he speaks about ‘Batla House’, I see a hunger and passion in him and having him around as producer on ‘Satyamev Jayate’ makes me believe we will work well together on this story. The biggest challenge will be to find the balance between duty and country, that fine line Sanjeev Kumar Yadav walk so perfectly and project it on screen.”
Revealing what made him sign John Abraham in the role of Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Advani says, “Sanjeev Kumar Yadav wanted a physically and mentally strong actor and John fits the bill. With a little light on him and a flash of those dimples, John stands out in a crowd. The biggest challenge will be to make him blend in.”
With all preparations done in advance, Advani plans to take the film to floors in September and is looking at completing it within a start-to-finish schedule of 50 days. The director will shoot the movie across Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Mumbai and Nepal. ‘Batla House’ has been written by Ritesh Shah whose ‘Raid’ (2018) has done fabulous business at the ticket counter.
