Buzz has it that Ayushmann Khurrana has turned down a role in Ajay Devgn’s upcoming production venture which is a Hindi remake of Tamil musical-gangster film ‘Jigarthanda’ (2014). It looks like that after the runaway success of ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ (2017) and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ (2017), the actor does not want to rush into things and is being extremely careful with the selection of his scripts.
‘Jigarthanda’ is a two-hero project. While the makers have already roped in superstar Sanjay Dutt for one of the leads, Ayushmann Khurrana was approached to play the second male lead in the movie. However, the actor declined the offer almost immediately. Some insiders reveal that Ayushmann wants to focus on solo projects at the moment. Since ‘Jigarthanda’ remake already features a star like Sanjay Dutt, he decided to let go of the project. According to a source, “At this point in his career, after two back-to-back hits ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, Ayushmann wouldn’t want to do a two-hero film.”
Interestingly, actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar was also approached for the same role before Ayushmann came into the picture. However, Akhtar bowed out of the project for reasons best known to him.
Meanwhile, Khurrana is currently shooting for his forthcoming film ‘Shoot The Piano Player’. Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, the suspense thriller also features Tabu and Radhika Apte in key roles. Besides ‘Shoot The Piano Player’, the talented actor will also be seen in Amit Sharma’s ‘Badhaai Ho’, co-starring ‘Dangal’ (2016) girl, Sanya Malhotra.
