Contrary to reports that Karan Johar had refused to produce his protege Sidharth Malhotra’s next film based on a Kargil war hero, the ace filmmaker has now announced the project officially. Yes, Karan Johar is all set to co-produce Sidharth Malhotra’s next movie inspired from the life of Captain Vikram Batra of Indian Armed Forces, who gave his life during the 1999 Kargil war and was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest and most prestigious award for valour.
Johar took to his Twitter handle to announce the project. “Time to relive-Yeh Dil Mangey More. @DharmaMovies & Shabbir Boxwala collaborate to present the true story of bravery & patriotism-the chronicles of Kargil war hero Vikram Batra @S1dharthM in the lead as Sher Shah Vikram Batra Vishnu Varadhan to direct Written By Sandeep Shrivastava.”
Elated Sidharth Malhotra, who was last seen in Neeraj Pandey’s ‘Aiyaary’ (2018), too shared the exciting news with his fans and well-wishers. His tweet read, “Excited to announce that I will be portraying “Sher Shah” Vikram Batra’s heroic story produced by @DharmaMovies and Shabbir Boxwala, Directed by Vishnu Varadhan, written by-Sandeep Srivastava. #Shershah.”
The Vikram Batra biopic will be directed by Vishnu Varadhan on a story written by Sandeep Shrivastava. Shabbir Boxwala will co-produce the film along with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film is expected to mount the shooting floor soon. The makers have not announced any release date as yet.
