Young Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, who is riding high on the thunderous success of his recent release ‘Padmaavat’ (2017), is all set to join forces with hit filmmaker Rohit Shetty who is known for his commercial potboilers. Titled ‘Simmba’, the movie stars Singh in the role of a corrupt cop who has a change of heart and becomes a saviour.
The project was announced last year and was expected to hit the shooting floor in the first quarter of 2018. When, at an event, Singh was asked about the shooting schedule of the much-awaited movie, he revealed, “It is an incredible opportunity that I am extremely excited to be commencing shooting in about a month’s time. I will start prep for that film from tomorrow.”
Ranveer, who started his acting career with Maneesh Sharma’s ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ in 2010, is teaming up with Rohit Shetty for the first time. The actor is quite gung-ho about working with the director on this collaboration. “‘Simmba’ is my first collaboration with Rohit Shetty which I know people are really excited about and me more than anyone to be diving into the masala genre with king of the genre,” he said.
When asked how he will go about preparing for his role in the movie, the actor reveals that Rohit wants him to be built like a brick shithouse to play the role of police officer. “He is very keen that I have big muscles in the film. He has told me that when I wear my uniform, my muscles should tear it apart.”
Apart from Ranveer Singh, ‘Simmba’ also stars newcomer Sara Ali Khan and Sonu Sood. While Sara will be seen as Singh’s love interest, Sood plays the lead antagonist in the movie. Produced by Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty, the action entertainer is scheduled to release on 28th December 2018.
Apart from ‘Simmba’, Ranveer Singh also has ‘Gully Boy’ and ‘83’ in his pocket.
