On 13th April, 2018, Government of India honoured veteran actress Sridevi, who breathed her last after drowning in a Dubai hotel bathroom on 24th February, with the National Award for Best Actress for her impassioned performance in filmmaker Uday Udyawar’s critically and commercially successful film ‘Mom’ (2017). The National Awards ceremony will be held on May 3 where all recipients will receive their awards from the honourable President of India, Ram Nath Kovind.
Since Sridevi, who acted in over 300 films made in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam and established herself as the numero uno queen of the silver screen in the 80’s and 90s’, is no more to receive the honour on her own, her husband Boney Kapoor and daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, will fly to Delhi to collect the posthumous National Award for the seasoned actress.
According to a source, Boney was not in a mood to go to the National capital to pick up the award but his daughters convinced him to attend the ceremony. “The wounds are still very raw. Sri has been gone for less than two months, and Boney cries at the very mention of her name. Given a chance, he would have just avoided any mention of her, but the national award is big and a historic chapter in Sridevi’s glorious career. Boney’s daughters Janhvi and Khushi have convinced their father to accompany them to Delhi,” reveals a well-placed source to a popular daily.
We also hear that Boney Kapoor is reluctant to even attend his niece Sonam Kapoor’s wedding on 8th May. But since it is a family function, he will only be present for the mandatory rituals.
Sonam Kapoor is marrying her longtime boyfriend Anand Ahuja in a private ceremony on 8th May, 2018.
