Ali Abbas Zafar and Salman Khan to shoot partition sequences for Bharat in Punjab

Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that his forthcoming directorial venture ‘Bharat’ turns out to be a grand film. Starring Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles, the film is highly awaited by fans, and Zafar knows it very well that loads of expectations are pinned on the movie simply because whenever he has teamed up with Salman Khan in the past, the result has been mind-blowing. Be it ‘Sultan’ (2015) or ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ (2017) both films of the duo did massive business at the box office. This time around, the pressure on the director is not to match up to the success of his previous films with Khan, but the audience wants him to go several notches higher in terms of action, drama and performances in ‘Bharat’.

To meet the expectations of the audience, Ali Abbas Zafar is working really hard. He is a filmmaker who is known for doing his homework well in advance. He had started the pre-production work for ‘Bharat in January and was looking for locations which do justice to his film’s storyline. Seems like the director has finally found the location where he will shoot the first few scenes of the much-awaited movie. Reportedly, Zafar has decided to first shoot the India-Pakistan partition sequence, for which he has locked 45 local villages in the interiors of Punjab. Ali and Salman Khan will soon head to Punjab for a 15 days long schedule.

“The idea is to make the most significant event of our country extremely real. The set will transport the audiences to the times of the partition. Ali and his team went scouting in 45 villages in Punjab to lock the exact location where Salman will film these scenes. Kila Raipur, Gujjarwal, Bilga and Ghungrana are some of the villages where they have done a recce so far. He is yet to decide on the village that will be the starting point of Bharat’s Punjab schedule,” a source reveals.

Apart from Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra, ‘Bharat’ stars Sunil Grover in an important role. Produced by Salman’s brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri and sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri in association with Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, ‘Bharat’ releases on Eid next year.
