Taapsee Pannu and Kriti Sanon, who had a fantastic 2017, have joined hands for a Phantom Films backed project Womaniya. Based on real-life incidents of women professional shooters, the female-led project is expected to start rolling in the last quarter of the year. But before the film mounts the shooting floor, Taapsee and Kriti will train themselves in rifle shooting to take on their roles. Reportedly, the makers of the women-centric film have approached Commonwealth Games 2018 bronze medallist Apurvi Chandela and Olympian Anjali Bhagwat to train both the actresses.
“The film is primarily about women shooters from Uttar Pradesh and their rise to fame against all odds. The actresses will have to undergo training in rifle shooting to pull off the roles convincingly. The makers are keen on getting Olympic athletes, Apurvi Chandela and Anjali Bhagwat, to train Kriti Sanon and Taapsee Pannu. They feel it will add to the authenticity of the movie and will also help them get the basics of shooting right. The preparation for the film will start by August,” a source informed a popular tabloid.
Learning rifle shooting is not the only thing the actresses are required to do to get into the skin of their characters. They will have to work on their language skills as well. “Since the film is set in the hinterland of UP, both of them will have to pick up the local dialect. The production house will be roping in a tutor who will help them perfect the accent.”
Meanwhile, Taapsee Pannu will shortly be seen in the upcoming sports biopic ‘Soorma’ followed by Anurag Kashyap’s much-talked-about film ‘Manmarziyan’. Kriti, on the other hand, is shooting for a romcom called ‘Arjun Patiala’. Coincidentally, the next releases of both the actresses – ‘Soorma’ and ‘Arjun Patiala’ – star singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh.
