‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Sultan’ set for Chinese premieres

After putting up a great show at the domestic box-office in 2017, Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s social drama film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ is all set for its Chinese premiere. Yes, following the footsteps of Bollywood biggies such as ‘Dangal’ (2016), ‘Secret Superstar’ (2017), ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ (2015), and ‘Hindi Medium’ (2017), the Shree Narayan Singh directorial will now hit screens in our neighboring country. Considering the fact that most of the Hindi movies which released in China in the recent past have performed exceptionally well there, it is expected that ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ will continue this winning streak.

Produced by KriArj Entertainment, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ revolves around a pertinent issue. It talks about open defecation in India. Since the film promoted Indian government’s much-publicised Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan campaign to a great extent, it was declared tax-free in many states across the country.

Reportedly, the makers of ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ had held a special screening of the movie at the international film festival in Beijing where it received an extremely favorable response from the audience, which led the makers to plan a release in China. The makers are hopeful that the social message in the movie will get across the Chinese audience like it did with people in India.

Besides ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, Salman Khan’s 2016 blockbuster ‘Sultan’ is also set for a widespread release in China. The sports-drama film, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, had Anushka Sharma as the female lead. It was one of the highest grossing films of 2016 and joined the much-coveted Rs. 300 crore club.

Before ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Sultan’ take the Chinese box-office by storm, ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ is scheduled to bring a hurricane with its release on May 4.
