Last seen in film director Soumik Sen’s crime drama ‘Gulab Gang’ (2014), evergreen actress Madhuri Dixit is making a comeback to Hindi films with Indra Kumar’s comic-caper ‘Total Dhamaal’, which is a sequel to the blockbuster comedy franchise, ‘Dhamaal’ (2007). Besides, the seasoned actress has also joined forces with hit filmmaker Karan Johar for his forthcoming multi-starrer ‘Kalank’. The project was announced a couple of days back and the fans could not keep calm when they came to know that the diva is also a part of the ensemble cast. The latest we hear that Madhuri commences shooting for ‘Kalank’ today in Mumbai.
Talking about the same, a source reveals that the actress will shoot for her first scene in the movie with co-actors Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. “Madhuri will be joining Varun and Alia on the sets of the film today. Many of her scenes are with the two actors.”
Confirming the same, Madhuri says, “I am excited to start the shoot for ‘Kalank’ today. It’s my second association with Karan Johar after ‘Bucket List’, which is being presented by him. It’s been a lovely journey so far. I can’t wait to begin this one.”
For the uninitiated, Madhuri is making her debut in Marathi cinema with Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar’s forthcoming film ‘Bucket List’. Karan Johar recently came onboard as a presenter of the movie. The film is scheduled to release on May 25.
Coming back to ‘Kalank’, the period drama is being helmed by Abhishek Verman who has previously helmed ‘2 States’ (2014). Apart from Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, the multi-starrer also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur in principal roles.
‘Kalank’ is being jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. The film went to the sets last week and is scheduled to release on 19th April 2019.
