Fire breaks out on the sets of Karan Johar’s ‘Kesari’ starring Akshay Kumar

A massive fire broke out on the sets of Akshay Kumar’s forthcoming period drama ‘Kesari’. The film is currently being shot at Pimpode Budruk village in Wai, Maharashtra, where the incident took place. Reportedly, the team was filming a bomb explosion scene and apparently some embers fell on set material kept in the close vicinity and caught fire.

According to reports, the unit was shooting for the climax and final portions of the movie in Wai. Akshay had already left for the day before the fire broke out on the sets. Thankfully, no one was injured during the fire.

Talking about ‘Kesari’, the film is based on the famous Battle of Saragarhi of 1897, where an army of 21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 Afghans. Akshay will be seen playing the role of a military commander of 21 Sikh soldiers named Havildar Ishar Singh. Actress Parineeti Chopra also features in an important role.

Directed by Anurag Singh, ‘Kesari’ is being produced by Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions.

The film is scheduled to release during the Holi weekend in 2019.

Interestingly, well-known filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi is also making a film on the same subject. His film stars Randeep Hooda in the role of Havildar Ishar Singh. Actress Yami Gautam’s younger sister, Surilie Gautam, makes her Bollywood debut with the war drama film.
