Former cricketer-turned-actor Salil Ankola, who was last seen in Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s gobsmackingly epic television series ‘Karmaphal Daata Shani’, has been signed a play a negative character in noted filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar’s upcoming film. The untitled movie stars Vidyut Jammwal and Shruti Haasan in principal roles. It marks the directorial comeback of Manjrekar in Bollywood, who last helmed ‘Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!’ (2005).
Spilling some beans on his character in the forthcoming action entertainer, the actor says, “I will be the negative lead in the film. He talks less and is a ruthless killer. The film is high on action and the character has to look ‘non-villainous tougher’ and fitter so as to look convincing in the climax.”
Salil, who has worked with Mahesh Manjrekar in films such as ‘Kurukshetra’ (2000) and ‘Pitaah’ (2002), is happy about teaming up with the director once again. “Mahesh being an old friend, who has known me for a long time, knows my fitness levels. He was very keen on me doing the role. I will be seen in a never seen before avatar so I am pretty much excited,” he added.
To be produced by Vijay Galani, the action entertainer will be on the lines of Manjrekar’s 1999 film ‘Vaastav’, which starred Sanjay Dutt in the lead role. The film went on floors a couple of days back.
