By casting Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur in one film, filmmaker Karan Johar has managed a casting coup of sorts for his forthcoming production venture ‘Kalank’. Yes, KJo is bringing all these stars in one film for which he has joined hands with Fox Star Studios and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. Karan’s Dharma Productions announced the multi-starrer a couple of hours ago on their official Twitter page, along with sharing the announcement poster of the mega-budgeted film.
‘Kalank’ was planned 15 years ago by Karan Johar and his father, late Yash Johar. However, the project could not take off back then for various reasons. But after so many years, Karan’s dream is all set to turn into reality and the filmmaker is no doubt on top of the world and, at the same time, extremely emotional too. “Kalank has been an emotional journey for me! A germ of an idea that I had nearly 15 years ago…a film that was in a pre-production stage helmed by my father…am now proud to pass it onto the extremely capable and visionary hands of our director Abhishek Varman! A beautifully structured story by Shibani Bathija and an exceptionally fluid narrative and screenplay by Abhishek,” the filmmaker said in his statement.
Co-producer Sajid Nadiadwala adds, “18th April 2014, 2 States had released…18th April 2019 KALANK begins its journey. This multi-starrer with a story will cross all borders, under the capable direction of Abhishek Varman. It be historic in the true sense of the word…I am genuinely happy to be back with the team Fox Star and Karan Johar. This film is special to all of us!!”
Set to mount the shooting floor by the end of April, ‘Kalank’ is scheduled to release on 19th April 2019.
