Fans were really excited to know that Bollywood hunk John Abraham was going to play a RAW agent in the upcoming suspense thriller ‘Romeo Akbar Walter’ (RAW). The role was first offered to rising star Sushant Singh Rajput, but he declined the offer for reasons best known to him. After Singh turned down the movie, the makers approached John Abraham to fill his shoes. However, if latest reports are to be believed, the ‘Dostana’ (2008) actor has also decided to walk out of the project.
Though neither the makers nor John himself has confirmed the news, industry circuit is buzzing with rumours that the project has hit the roadblock once again after John decided against it at the last moment. Reportedly, John had some reservations about the storyline of the film, which the star feels bears a lot of similarities with Meghna Gulzar’s new film ‘Raazi’, featuring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles. When John saw the trailer of the film a couple of days ago, he was convinced that it is similar to ‘Raazi’. Before the makers could make any changes in the script, John decided to step back.
However, there is another side to the story as well. A source, who contacted the makers to glean more information on the latest development, reveals that it is not John but the makers who themselves have decided to hold the film as they feel that the project is not viable for them at the moment. They may make it later with a bigger star.
Reportedly, John was being paid 11 crores for the film, which affected the budget of the venture.
Meanwhile, John is awaiting the release of his upcoming film ‘Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran’. Also starring Diana Penty and Boman Irani, the movie is slated to hit screens on 4th May 2018.
