Happy days are here again for filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor! We all know that the talented director has gone through a lot in the past few months due to the unending controversy surrounding his upcoming directorial venture, ‘Kedarnath’. The project, which was announced with much fanfare in 2017 with debutante Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput, was being jointly produced by Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor along with Abhishek Kapoor. However, a few months ago, some differences started cropping up among the producers which led to the halt of the film’s shoot. Recently, it was being reported that after his bitter experience with KriArj Entertainment, Abhishek has decided to produce ‘Kedarnath’ all alone, but the good news is that producer Ronnie Screwvala has now come on-board to co-produce the film with him.
Talking about the same, a well-placed source reveals to a popular tabloid, “When Ronnie saw footage from ‘Kedarnath’, he loved it and has decided to back the film. He has paid Bhushan (Kumar) and Prernaa (Arora) around Rs 14 crore and Ekta approximately Rs 8 crore for their investment in the film and has now completely taken over the film along with Abhishek. Everything was settled amicably and Abhishek can’t wait to start shooting again.”
Excited about teaming up with Abhishek, Ronnie says that ‘Kedarnath’ matches his vision of great stories, and hence he decided to bankroll it. “’Kedarnath’ is a great love story set against the backdrop of the powerful true-life event that affected us all during the floods in 2013. It completely matches my vision of great stories that need to be told and I can’t wait to bring this story to the audiences early next year.”
Debutante Sara Ali Khan, the daughter of actors Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, was set to enter Bollywood with ‘Kedarnath’. However, with constant delays in the shooting of the movie in the, it seems almost impossible for ‘Kedarnath’ to be her debut film because chances are high that ‘Simmba’, which she signed with Ranveer Singh recently, will release before ‘Kedarnath. In that case, ‘Simmba’ will mark her acting debut in Bollywood.
