Bollywood star Sidharth Malhotra is going through a lean phase in his career. His much-talked-about film ‘Aiyaary’ (2018), which released with much fanfare in February, fell flat at the box office, damaging his position further in the industry. But the good news is that the actor still has some interesting projects on his plate. If they work at the box office, Malhotra can bounce back with a bang.
Sidharth is currently preparing for Captain Vikram Batra’s biopic which is expected to roll in next few months. The latest we hear that he has also given his nod to star in Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming production venture, tentatively titled ‘Shotgun Shaadi’. The film is, reportedly, based on groom-kidnapping which is quite common in the Northern Indian state of Bihar. The actor will essay the role of a thug in the movie, something which has never done before in his career so far. “Sid plays a thug who abducts potential grooms and gets them forcefully married. He has started taking classes to master the Bihari diction,” reveals a source.
Talking about the film, a source had earlier said, “It’s a small town story with edgy characters. As soon as Ekta heard it, she immediately reached out to Sidharth. She believes it’s a great role and a perfect film for them to come together. The film is expected to roll in a couple of months. The makers will begin the reccee soon and zero in on a leading lady.”
Sidharth Malhotra and Ekta Kapoor have previously collaborated on Mohit Suri’s ‘Ek Villain’ (2014) which was a successful venture in terms of box-office numbers.
