It’s not a secret anymore that Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan has expressed his desire to work on a film based on Indian epic Mahabharat. There were reports which suggested that Khan and his team are planning to start work on a five-part version of the epic. And when it came to light that business tycoon Mukesh Ambani is ready to invest Rs. 1000 crore in the big-budgeted project, the excitement surrounding the project increased manifolds. But if sources are to be believed, the ‘Dangal’ (2016) actor is having a second thought about the whole project.
A report published in a popular daily says that Aamir Khan, who was thinking of playing the role of Krishna in the mythology movie, has been weighing up the pros and cons. What happens with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s recent release ‘Padmaavat’ (2018) is not hidden from anyone. The period drama had to face a series of protests from several fringe groups, and the thought that the same can happen with his film also, Khan is looking to reconsider his decision.
A source says, “Doing history or mythology has become very tricky. Look at what Padmaavat had to go through. Aamir is weighing the pros and cons of doing the Mahabharat, knowing he is bound to land up in trouble with fringe groups protesting. Aamir may drop his plans of doing the version for now.”
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan will next be seen in Yash Raj Films’ big-ticket film ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’. Also starring Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Sheikh in principal roles, the movie is being helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya who has previously directed Khan in ‘Dhoom 3’ (2013). It is slated to release on 7th November 2018.
