Shah Rukh Khan & Sanjay Leela Bhansali to team up after 16 years

Grapevine has it that superstar Shah Rukh Khan is all set to join forces with acclaimed Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali after a massive gap of 16 years. The duo last worked together in ‘Devdas’ (2002), a film which was a colossal success at the box-office and even went to the Oscars in 2003.

SRK is currently shooting for the Aanand L Rai directorial ‘Zero’. The actor was expected to begin his next film ‘Salute’ right after completing ‘Zero’. However, latest reports suggest that before starting ‘Salute’, which is a biopic based on Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma, Khan will do a romantic film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

A well-placed source reveals to a leading tabloid, “Not many know that Shah Rukh and Bhansali have been in talks for long. During a recent meeting, the director narrated his script to him. It is a fictional love story with a period setting. While Shah Rukh has given his nod in principle, the project is facing a roadblock by way of its female lead. Though the names of a few leading ladies are being thrown around, Bhansali is yet to zero in on an actress.”

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whose recent directorial ‘Padmaavat’ (2018) left the cash registers jingling, is expected to roll his next film by the end of the year, while the Rakesh Sharma biopic ‘Salute’ mounts the shooting floor in January next year.

Talking about Shah Rukh Khan’s forthcoming film ‘Zero’, the actor plays a dual role in it. The movie also stars Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in pivotal roles and is scheduled to hit screens across the world on 21st December 2018.
