From ‘Parineeta’ (2005) to ‘The Dirty Picture’ (2011) and ‘Kahaani’ (2012) to ‘Tumhari Sulu’ (2017), National Award-winning actress Vidya Balan has given us some of the most memorable Hindi films which we are going to cherish and enjoy throughout our lives. After her slice-of-life movie ‘Tumhari Sulu’, Balan has signed no other project on the dotted line. There have been some reports of late which suggest her association with a Telugu film NTR but nothing has been officially confirmed as yet. The latest we hear that the talented actress might play a gangster in her upcoming Bollywood venture.
According to a report published in a popular English tabloid, Vidya has been approached to play a gangster in an untitled film to be directed by Jyoti Kapur Das. “Set in the murky world of crime, the drama sees the leading lady as a grey character. The role is that of a strong-minded woman who is almost a crime overlord. After Jyoti finished penning the script, Vidya was the first name that came to her mind. Given the kind of author-backed roles that she has done, the actress would be a perfect fit for the character,” reveals a source.
The source adds that the director has given a story narration to her, which the actress has liked. But she has yet not given her final consent to the project and is working out her dates. “The actress also has the Indira Gandhi biopic in the pipeline. It all depends on when she starts the biopic. She is also in talks for another project. But if all goes as planned, the crime drama will go on floors later this year,” adds the source.
