Vidyut Jammwal and Shruti Haasan were about to share the screen space first in celebrated filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia’s action-drama ‘Yaara’. However, the project faced a lot of hurdles and is still waiting to see the light of the day. Though their first film is stuck in the production, both actors are now teaming up for another movie. The untitled project will mark the comeback of talented director Mahesh Manjrekar in Bollywood.
Though nothing much is known about the project, some media outlets report that it is set in the 90s. Shruti, whose last Hindi film was ‘Behen Hogi Teri’, will be seen in the role of a small-town girl who falls in love with an NRI, a character played by Vidyut Jammwal. Their respective families don’t approve of their romance. Reportedly, Shruti and Vidyut will have two-week workshops before the movie goes on floors in mid-April.
“Shruti’s character is an independent, educated girl and serves as the catalyst for a massive feud between the two families. Manjrekar and she have had a couple of meetings in the last two months. She’s followed his work and was eager to collaborate with him. After a meeting on Wednesday, she gave her nod,” reveals a source.
Apart from Vidyut Jammwal and Shruti Haasan, the film also stars veterans like Naseeruddin Shah and Amole Palekar. It will be produced by Vijay Galani.
Meanwhile, Vidyut is currently shooting for his upcoming film ‘Junglee’. Shruti, on the other hand, will shortly be seen in multilingual spy comedy-adventure ‘Sabaash Naidu’. The film is written, co-produced and directed by her father, Kamal Haasan.
