National Award-winning actor Ajay Devgn, who is riding high on the success of his recent release ‘Raid’ (2018), has a number of plum projects on his plate. Of all the films the actor has in his hand at the moment, the biopic on Subedar Taanaji Malusare, who fought alongside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and also laid the foundation of the Maratha Empire in 17th century India, remains one of the most-awaited ones.
Ajay had announced the big-ticket film titled ‘Taanaji – The Unsung Warrior’, on 20th July 2017 along with releasing the first look poster. He had captioned his post on Twitter, “He fought for his People, his soil & his King Chhatrapati Shivaji. The unsung warrior of glorious Indian history, Subedar Taanaji Malusare.”
Since the official announcement, there has not been much progress on the project. However, when the actor was recently asked about the film, he said, “The prep is going on and we would start shooting in August.” The film will be directed by noted Marathi filmmaker Om Raut.
Before beginning ‘Taanaji – The Unsung Warrior’ in August, Ajay Devgn will wrap up two of his upcoming films – ‘Total Dhamaal’ and an untitled film to be produced by Luv Ranjan and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series. While ‘Total Dhamaal’ also stars Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh and Javed Jaffrey, Ajay will team up with Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh in his film with Ranjan and Kumar.
Apart from starring in all above-mentioned projects, Ajay is also producing his wife Kajol’s forthcoming movie ‘Ela’, which is being helmed by renowned filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar.
