Fans were really excited when superstar Akshay Kumar joined forces with T-Series head honcho, Bhushan Kumar, for a biopic on latter’s late father and music baron, Gulshan Kumar. The actor was about to start shooting for the film towards the end of 2017 and wrap it up on time for its theatrical release in the third quarter of 2018.
However, within months of the official announcement of the film and the first poster launch, news surfaced that Kumar had quit the biopic due to some creative difference with filmmaker Subhash Kapoor who had been entrusted with the responsibility of helming ‘Mogul’.
After Kumar walked out of the project, Aamir Khan’s name started getting associated with it. However, neither Khan nor the makers ever said anything about this possible collaboration speculated by media. But with Khan now moving to commence work on his dream project ‘Mahabharata’ in the next couple of months, it is highly unlikely that he will star in the Gulshan Kumar biopic.
However, even after facing so many issues in getting ‘Mogul’ started, Bhushan Kumar is confident about making the film soon. He doesn’t want to give up on the biopic so easily because it’s very close to his heart. “My father’s biopic is very close to me. That is the biggest announcement we have made in our lives and we will confirm an actor soon. He could be bigger than Akshay Kumar,” he said recently.
It looks like that after Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan, Bhushan will now approach either Salman Khan or Shah Rukh Khan for the biopic as only these two superstars of the Hindi cinema are bigger than Akshay Kumar at the moment.
