Taapsee Pannu to go de-glam to play a shooter in her next

Taapsee Pannu is one of those few actors in Bollywood who can get into the skin of any character with amazing ease. Whether it’s the role of a glamorous girl or a girl without any makeup, the ‘Pink’ (2016) actress can do anything with consummate élan. The actress, who is currently shooting for her forthcoming film ‘Manmarziyan’ with Abhishek Bachchan and Vicky Kaushal, is set to play another challenging character in her next titled ‘Womaniya’. Pannu will be seen in a completely de-glam avatar in the movie inspired from true events. Joining her in the cast will be another emerging star Kriti Sanon who will also go de-glam to do justice to her role.

“It’s a very intense subject, and both Kriti and Taapsee will have to shed their glamorous avatars for ‘Womaniya’. They will also have to train themselves for the characters as they’ll both be seen playing professional shooters in the film,” a source close to the development informs.

‘Womaniya’ will be bankrolled by Anurag Kashyap who is currently directing Taapsee Pannu in ‘Manmarziyan’.

Talking about the project, a source had earlier revealed, “The film follows two professional woman shooters and their success story against all odds. Both actresses will require training in shooting before the film kicks off to maintain authenticity. Anurag (Kashyap) will be introducing a new director with this project, which is inspired by the real-life success stories of several women professional shooters.”

As per latest information, ‘Womaniya’ will start rolling as soon as Pannu and Sanon finish their on-going projects ‘Manmarziyan’ and Arjun Patiala’ respectively.

Interestingly, Taapsee plays the female lead in another upcoming sports-based film ‘Soorma’, which also stars popular singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role. Helmed by Shaad Ali, the movie is a biopic on renowned hockey player Sandeep Singh scheduled to release on 29th June.
