Plans to remake veteran filmmaker Raj Khosla’s blockbuster film ‘Woh Kaun Thi’ (1964) are at full throttle at KriArj Entertainment, the production house which has acquired the rights to remake the Bollywood classic. Speculations have been doing the rounds of late that popular Hindi film actor Shahid Kapoor might play the male lead in the film. According to reports, Shahid is keen to seek blessings from seasoned actor Manoj Kumar, who headlined the original film way back in 1964 along with beautiful Sadhana, before signing the project on the dotted lines.
A well-placed source reveals to a popular daily, “Shahid feels it’s only proper to touch base with the original cast and crew. But not many people associated with the original are still alive. Director Raj Khosla and music director Madan Mohan are no longer with us, and neither is Sadhana, who played the ethereal spirit. This leaves Manoj Kumar. Shahid will meet him, as this version of ‘Who Kaun Thi’ is meant to be a tribute to the original.”
Though Shahid Kapoor seems almost onboard to star in the remake, the makers are yet to announce any names officially. On the other hand, some media outlets report that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan might join Kapoor to play his love interest in the flick. However, the makers at KriArj Entertainment have refuted all such reports, saying they have not locked the final cast as yet.
Meanwhile, Shahid and Aishwarya both talented actors are working in KriArj Entertainment’s two upcoming projects. Kapoor plays the male lead in ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ while Aishwarya will shortly be seen in ‘Fanne Khan’, which also features Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in principal roles.
