Award-winning Hindi filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, who has to his credit blockbusters like ‘Lagaan’ (2001), ‘Swades’ (2004) and ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ (2008), has joined forces with superstar Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon for his forthcoming period drama. Titled ‘Panipat’, the historical saga will explore the third battle of Panipat which changed the course of Indian history forever.
Gowariker unveiled the teaser poster of his new venture earlier today, along with announcing its release date in one of his Twitter posts. To be mounted on a lavish scale like most of his movies, ‘Panipat’ will enter cinemas on 6th December 2019. “Historical dramas have always fascinated me. This time it is a story about what led to the Third Battle of #Panipat. Here’s the first Teaser Poster!! (sic),” the moviemaker tweeted.
The first teaser poster of ‘Panipat’ sets the right mood for the film which will be filled with intense emotions, blood, and gore. It shows a powerful hand of a warrior holding a sword against the blurred image of a battlefield in the backdrop. If the teaser poster is anything to go by, we are sure that Ashutosh is going to spend like a sailor in the making of this forthcoming historical drama.
Reportedly, Arjun Kapoor, who is currently shooting for his upcoming film ‘Namastey England’ in Punjab, will essay the role of Sadashiv Rao Bhau in the movie. Also known as Bhausaheb, Sadashiv was the Commander-in-Chief of the Maratha Army. Sanjay Dutt, on the other hand, has been cast to play the role of Ahmad Shah Abdali, the founder of the Durrani Empire. Not much is known about the character Kriti Sanon has been roped in to play in the movie.
‘Panipat’ is expected to mount the shooting floor in mid-2018. Sunita Gowariker and Rohit Shelatkar have taken upon themselves the responsibility of bankrolling the heavy-budgeted project.
