After leaving the cash registers jingling at the Indian box office, Aamir Khan’s home production ‘Secret Superstar’ (2017) has performed beyond expectations in some international markets also, especially China. The film, which revolves around a teenage girl’s dream of becoming a famous singer and the opposition she faces from his orthodox father, was made on a moderate budget of Rs. 15. But it has pulled in over Rs. 759 crores at the Chinese box office and is still counting.
Before the release of the film in China, some trade experts had predicted that it would earn around Rs. 700 crores in the neighboring country. However, the film surpassed the mark within days of its release and now it is aiming to reach Rs. 800 crore mark, which does not seem impossible at all looking at the steady pace of the film.
Buoyed up by the huge success of the movie across the world, Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan recently hosted a success bash, which saw the presence of the entire cast and crew of the movie. When the superstar was asked about his reaction on the colossal success of the film not only in India but across the world, he said, “We are really happy that ‘Secret Superstar’ has been so successful all around the world, so all credit goes to Advait (Chandan) for wonderful writing and direction that he has done.”
‘Secret Superstar’ features ‘Dangal’ (2016) fame Zaira Wasim in the lead role, with Aamir Khan appearing in a brief appearance. The film is produced by Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions.
