Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala announced a sequel to his blockbuster film ‘Kick’ (2014) a couple of weeks ago and Salman Khan fans couldn’t contain their excitement. But what came as a big surprise to them were reports which suggested that Jacqueline Fernandez, who played the female lead in the original, is not going to be a part of ‘Kick 2’. However, if latest reports are to be believed, she might be seen romancing Salman Khan once again in the second installment of the series.
Talking about the sequel, Sajid Nadiadwala told a daily, “We had already decided that there would be a sequel. I’ve been writing it for a year now. As I had a lot of other things on my plate, it was taking time. I’ll restart the writing process. We should be ready to roll the movie next year after Salman finishes all his current films. ‘Kick 2’ will release on Christmas 2019.”
He also revealed what led people think that Fernandez will not be there is the sequel. “At an event, Salman was handing over the Best Director Award to me and he had said in jest, ‘Kick 2 is ready now, and Jacqueline, you are not there!’ He just joked and news spread that Jackie would be replaced in the film.”
When asked about Fernandez’s presence in ‘Kick 2’, Nadiadwala said, “Once I finish penning the script, I’ll be completely sure. But at present, she’s there in what I’m writing. But it’s too early to talk about it.”
Meanwhile, Jacqueline Fernandez is shooting for ‘Race 3’ with Salman Khan. Directed by Remo D’Souza, the movie is the third instalment of the blockbuster film franchise ‘Race’ (2008) and is slated to hit screens on Eid.
