Soon after announcing a digital project with noted writer-director Habib Faisal, producer Ekta Kapoor has signed well-known filmmaker Subhash Kapoor for yet another digital show which will stream exclusively on her subscription-based video on Demand platform, ALTBalaji.
Though not many details are out about the project, sources reveal that it revolves around the infamous Nanavati Case which shook the whole nation way back in 1959. Interestingly, superstar Akshay Kumar’s 2016 film ‘Rustom’ was also inspired from the same case.
Subhash Kapoor is known for his satirical films such as ‘Phas Gaye Re Obama’ (2010), ‘Jolly LLB’ (2013) and ‘Jolly LLB 2’ (2017). It will be the first time when he deals with a story inspired from real life incidents and that too for a medium he has never worked on before. But looking at his previous work and competency in direction, we are sure that he will do full justice to the upcoming web-series.
The untitled project is still in its pre-production stage. It is expected to take off as soon as the whole casting is locked by the makers.
Besides this project, Ekta Kapoor has also announced a two-film deal with ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ (2017) helmer, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. She is also producing a women-centric film for ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ (2017) fame director Alankrita Srivastava, along with a biopic on Dr Verghese Kurien in collaboration with Shree Narayan Singh.
