After delivering two blockbuster hits, ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ (2014) and ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ (2017), the terrific trio of Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan and Shashank Khaitan are coming together for their third venture. Titled ‘Rannbhoomi’, the movie has booked Diwali 2020 for its release. Dharma Productions’ head honcho Karan Johar took to Twitter to make the grand announcement. He tweeted, “So proud to announce #RANNBHOOMI …@ShashankKhaitan and @Varun_dvn take a giant leap in their third offering together! A solid spectacle with a beating heart!!! DIWALI 2020 release! Remaining lead cast to be announced soon!”

‘Rannbhoomi’ marks Varun Dhawan’s fourth collaboration with Dharma Productions. The actor debuted with Johar’s ‘Student Of The Year’ in 2012 and thereafter appeared in successful films like ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ and ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania.’ Interestingly, the film will also be the fourth association of director Shashank Khaitan with the premier production house. He made his directorial debut with ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ and then helmed ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania.’ Currently, Khaitan is busy filming Dharma Productions’ next ‘Dhadak’, which launches Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor alongside Ishaan Khattar.

Filmmaker Karan says that Shashank and Varun are a perfect blend of creative and commercial extravaganza. “‘Rannbhoomi’ is Shashank’s colossal and ambitious imagination to attempt a hat-trick with Varun and Dharma. Shashank and Varun make an epic blend of creative and commercial extravaganza and that is exactly what Dharma Productions’ vision for the coming few projects are. Very excited to bring them together again for this Diwali 2020 epic tale,” Karan Johar said in a statement.

In previous two films of Shashank, Alia Bhatt played the female lead opposite Varun Dhawan. It will be really interesting to see who the filmmaker casts in his next.

Besides ‘Rannbhoomi’, Dharma Productions’ slate of films also includes ‘Drive’, ‘Saaho’, ‘Raazi’, ‘Dhadak’, ‘Brahmastra’ and ‘Kesari’.
