Talented actor Akshaye Khanna, who floored everyone with his stellar cop act in Abhay Chopra’s suspense thriller ‘Ittefaq’ (2017), is all set for his next film. Reportedly, the ‘Taal’ (1999) actor has signed a suspense-drama movie which revolves around the topic of rape. To be directed by Manish Gupta, who last helmed the 2015 murder mystery ‘Rahasya’, the movie is titled ‘Section 375: Marzi Ya Jabardasti.’ It is expected to mount the shooting floor in the month of March-April.
Akshaye will play the character of a lawyer in the movie. Revealing how did he come about casting Khanna in the role, director Manish says, “I did not want a typical Bollywood hero who sings and dances. I needed an intelligent guy, somebody who looks 40, qualities I found in Akshaye,” he says.
When asked what led him to make a film on rape, the director explains, “In recent times, there have been a number of cases where it’s ambiguous whether it was rape or consensual sex. The law can be misused by both men and women alike. This film is about how a law against rape made to protect women can also be misused by them.”
Besides Akshaye Khanna, ‘Section 375: Marzi Ya Jabardasti’ also stars extremely talented Richa Chadha. She also plays a lawyer in the movie.
The film is being produced by Abhishek Pathak.
