Superstar Akshay Kumar, whose latest film ‘Pad Man’ (2018) has been performing well at the ticket window ever since its release on 9th February, might join hands with acclaimed filmmaker Nishikant Kamat who has previously helmed films like ‘Force’ (2011) and ‘Drishyam’ (2015).
According to reports, Kamat recently had a meeting with the superstar along with producer Vikram Malhotra. Vikram is a good friend of Akshay and has bankrolled his projects like ‘Baby’ (2015) and ‘Airlift’ (2016). Some insiders reveal that Akshay agreed to come onboard as soon as he heard the story. Though nothing much is known about the untitled film as yet, sources say it is inspired by some real-life incidents.
Apparently, Nishikant has now sat down to work on the script. Once he completes the script, he will meet Akshay again for the final narration and if the star approves the script, an official announcement will follow.
Meanwhile, Nishikant is currently busy with his upcoming film which he is directing for Ajay Devgn’s production house. The untitled film is a Hindi remake of Tamil flick ‘Jigarthanda’ (2014) which was a massive box office success upon its release. Though no official announcement has been made on the star cast of the film, reports suggest that Sanjay Dutt, Kartik Aryan and Tamannaah Bhatia have been roped in to play principal roles. The film is currently in the pre-production stage.
After completing Jigarthanda remake, Nishikant will move on to helm his next with Akshay Kumar. After ‘Pad Man’, Kumar is now gearing up for the release of his next big film ‘2.0’ which also stars Rajinikanth and Amy Jackson. His much-awaited film ‘Gold’, which has been financed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani for Excel Entertainment, is slated to release on 15th August 2018.
