Within no time, two films old filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari has cemented his position as one of the finest storytellers in male-dominated Bollywood. The filmmaker, who started her directorial career with the critically acclaimed film ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ (2016), delivered one of the most loved and successful films of 2017. Yes, we are talking about the Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Sanon starrer ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ which left the cash registers jiggling and helped Tiwari walk away with Filmfare Best Director Award.
After the stupendous success of her second film and subsequent win at Filmfare, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari is back in the news once again. The latest we hear that Ekta Kapoor, another female force to reckon with in entertainment business, has joined hands with Ashwiny. They have reportedly signed a two-film deal out of which Ashwiny will be helming one. Ekta confirmed the news on her Twitter handle, where she wrote, “Magic happens when creative women come together. Excited to collaborate with Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. We are producing two films together, one of which will be directed by @Ashwinyiyer!”
Excited about the association, Tiwari too took to Twitter to share her happiness. “There is so much more to films! Looking forward to this beautiful world of storytelling to evolve as @ektaravikapoor and I get our creative forces together for the pure love of cinema. Gratitude,” she wrote.
Spilling some more beans on their association, Ekta said that they chalked out a plan to work together on a flight. “I had seen ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ and had messaged her appreciating it. Next, we met on a Chennai-bound flight, sitting one behind the other, where we roughly chalked out a plan to work together. Eventually, after months of exchanges, we are here. When you have new talent, you mentor, but when you have a talent like Ashwiny, you ally with her because she brings something distinct to the table,” Ekta said.
