Megastar Akshay Kumar is on a roll these days. On one hand, the trailer of his forthcoming Independence Day release ‘Gold’ has been lauded by one and all. On the other hand, his latest offering ‘Pad Man’ has opened to a great response at the cash counter. And now, reports are doing the rounds that the much in demand actor has been approached to headline a biopic based on the life of Dr. Verghese Kurien.
As we all know that a couple of weeks ago Ekta Kapoor announced that she is joining forces with ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ (2017) helmer Shree Narayan Singh for a film on the life of Dr. Verghese Kurien. Though the makers are yet to finalize the cast and title of the movie, buzz has it that Akshay, who has been part of many social issue-driven films of late, is in talks to star in the movie. Well, keeping Kumar’s track record in mind, we can say that only he can do full justice to the role of late Dr. Verghese Kurien.
A source revealed to an English daily, “Akshay is reigning the charts and every film of his is a safe bet. So, this time around, the price will be what Akshay will take in addition to the partnership that he will command when he signs the film on the milkman of India. We are sure that he will charge an utterly, butterly delicious price for the film.”
For the uninitiated, Dr. Kurien is known as the architect of India’s White Revolution. It was because of his concerted efforts that, from a milk deficit nation, India became the largest producer of the milk in the world. Dr. Kurien was regarded as the ‘Father of White Revolution’ and ‘Milkman Of India’. Indian government bestowed upon him several awards for his great work, including Padma Vibhushan in 1999.
Reportedly, Ekta has bought the film rights for the book ‘I Too Had A Dream’, which traces the eventful journey of Dr. Kurien. The film will be produced under the banner of Balaji Motion Pictures.
Other details about the project are expected to be out soon.
