As the Akshay Kumar starrer film ‘Pad Man’ gears up for its theatrical release on 9th February, here comes another exciting piece of news for the makers. Also starring Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles, ‘Pad Man’ has become the first Hindi movie to be screened in Russia. The film will hit the silver screen simultaneously in India and Russia on 9th February.
Elated Akshay Kumar took to Twitter to share the exciting news with his fans. He wrote, “Happy to share, our film #PadMan becomes the first Bollywood film to be released in Russia on the same day and date. Directed by R Balki, ‘Pad Man’ tries to smash taboos around menstruation in India. It is inspired by the real-life story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a welder from a small village in Tamil Nadu, who invents low-cost napkin for the women of rural India.
The film is jointly produced by Mrs Funnybones Movies, KriArj Entertainment, SPE Films India, Cape of Good Films and Hope Productions.
‘Pad Man’ is Akshay Kumar’s first release of 2018. Besides ‘Pad Man’, the actor will also be seen in ‘2.0’ and ‘Gold’. While ‘2.0’, also starring Rajinikanth’, is expected to release in the second quarter of 2018, ‘Gold’ is scheduled to enter cinemas on 15th August.
