In a new development, one of the highly anticipated movies of 2018 ‘Aiyaary’ has been postponed once again. The Neeraj Pandey directorial, which was earlier scheduled to hit screens on 9th February, will now open in cinemas on 16th February.
Well-known film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the news on Twitter. He tweeted, “It’s CONFIRMED… #Aiyaary shifted to 16 Feb 2018.”
Starring Manoj Bajpayee and Sidharth Malhotra in principal roles, the film has gone through a lot of hurdles in its journey to reach theatres. It was originally scheduled to enter cinemas on January 25 along with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Pad Man’. But when the makers of the much-postponed ‘Padmaavat’ also jumped into the fray, the makers of ‘Aiyaary’ shifted its release date to February 9.
However, in a move to let ‘Padmaavat’ enjoy a solo release on 25th January, Akshay Kumar postponed ‘Pad Man’ to 9th February, bringing the situation back to square one – clashing with ‘Aiyaary’.
Not just a repeated change in its release date, ‘Aiyaary’ has recently faced the scrutiny of the Defence Ministry as it asked the makers to make certain changes after watching the film in a special screening at the CBFC. But now it seems that the film has passed all the tests and will release smoothly on 16th February.
Apart from Manoj Bajpayee and Sidharth Malhotra, ‘Aiyaary’ also stars Rakul Preet Singh, Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah in prominent roles. Set against the backdrop of the Indian Army, the movie will now clash with ‘Dil Juunglee’ and ‘3 Storeys’ on 16th February 2018.
