Riding high on the smashing success of his recent release ‘Padmaavat’ (2018), actor Ranveer Singh has just commenced shooting for his forthcoming film ‘Gully Boy’. Directed by noted filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, the movie features Alia Bhatt as the female lead. Apart from ‘Gully Boy’, the actor has a number of plum projects in his hand.
The latest we have learnt that Singh has given his nod to star in a film to be produced by Yash Raj Films, the same production house which launched him into movies with Maneesh Sharma’s hit rom-com, ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ in 2010.
Reportedly, the ‘Befikre’ (2016) actor will play the character of a Sardaar in the film. The movie has been tentatively titled as ‘Faujia’. If reports are true, it will be the first time when the actor plays a Sardaar in any films. A couple of months ago, reports were doing the rounds that Ranveer might reprise the role of a Sardaar in the sequel to Akshay Kumar’s blockbuster film ‘Singh Is Kinng’ (2008). However, that project has been shelved indefinitely as per sources.
No other details about Singh’s movie with Yash Raj Films have come out, but sources reveal that the project will mount the shooting floor in early 2019 and arrive in cinemas the same year. An official announcement is awaited.
Ranveer Singh has an impressive line-up of films releasing in the next two years. Besides Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy’, the actor will also be seen in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Simmba’ and Kabir Khan’s next ’83’.
