’83’, a film on India’s first Cricket World Cup victory, to release on 30th August 2019

In 2019, Bollywood is going to offer a hoard of biopics to cine-lovers. One of the biopics which the whole nation is waiting for in eager anticipation is ’83’. After launching the film with much fanfare last year, the makers of the Ranveer Singh starrer have now announced the release date of the much-awaited film.

Producer Reliance Entertainment revealed the release date of the movie by tweeting, “Mark your calendar! ‘83 will be releasing on August 30, 2019. ‘83 stars @RanveerOfficial. Directed by @kabirkhankk. @FuhSePhantom @83_thefilm.” Yes, the flick will arrive in cinemas near you on August 30, 2019.

’83’ revolves around one of the greatest moments of Indian Cricket when the men in blue, captained by the legendary cricketer, Kapil Dev, walked away with the trophy of Cricket World Cup in 1983, beating West Indies.

Well-known Hindi filmmaker Kabir Khan, who has to his credit blockbuster films like ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ (2012) and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ (2015), has been entrusted with the responsibility of calling the shots for the great project.

Actor Ranveer Singh, who is currently basking in the nonpareil success of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s gobsmackingly epic film ‘Padmaavat’ (2018), will get into the shoes of Kapil Dev in the film. Interestingly, the actor will be trained by the members of the winning team itself. Casting for other important characters is underway.

’83’ is being jointly produced by Reliance Entertainment and Phantom Films. The major portions of the film will be shot in London.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is shooting for Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming film ‘Gully Boy’. The film also stars Alia Bhatt. ‘Simmba’ is another project that the actor has in his kitty right now.
