Rajkumar Hirani is an accomplished filmmaker who can go to any length to get the desired result. The ace moviemaker, who has entertained us with a series of gripping blockbusters such as ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S’ (2003), ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ (2006), ‘3 idiots’ (2009) and ‘PK’ (2014), is currently busy with his next directorial, which is a biopic on Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt and features Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role.
After working on this ambitious project for more than two years now, the director announced its completion just a few days back. However, now the news is coming in that Hirani is not impressed with the final product and hence he is planning to re-shoot certain scenes of the biopic.
A source close to the development reveals to a daily, “Hirani wants to re-shoot some portions. There are several episodes from Dutt’s life that have not turned out the way they were planned. He is also not happy with having to gloss over Sanju’s love life.”
Some media outlets report that references to some of the actor’s love interests have not been included in the biopic, which makes it look incomplete and half-baked. Since Hirani is not satisfied with how certain scenes have shaped up, he wants to reshoot them. “It started off as a no-holds-barred honest and brutal look at Sanjay’s life. It’s not that anymore,” the source added.
The Sanjay Dutt biopic has been one of the most time-consuming projects of director Rajkumar Hirani. It has already missed its release date several times. After being postponed more than three times, the film was slated to release on 29th June 2018. But if Hirani opts to re-shoot some scenes, it might get postponed yet again.
Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films, the untitled film also stars Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Karishma Tanna and Dia Mirza.
