Ever since the trailer of Rani Mukerji’s forthcoming film ‘Hichki’ came out and received a positive response from all corners, everyone was waiting to watch the movie in cinemas on 23rd February. However, cinegoers will have to wait a little longer as the makers of the much-awaited flick have decided to postpone the movie by one month. Earlier scheduled to arrive in theatres on 23rd February, ‘Hichki’ will now release on 23rd March.
Noted trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, took to Twitter to reveal the reason behind producer Aditya Chopra’s decision. He tweeted, “Having evoked positive reactions during the private screenings, the marketing/distribution team of Yash Raj Films convinced Aditya Chopra that the movie should release post exams, hence the makers decided to go for the new date, i.e. 23rd March 2018.”
The slice-of-life film, which revolves around a teacher suffering from Tourette syndrome and what differences she makes in the lives of few economically backward students, marks seasoned actress Rani Mukerji’s comeback to films after a long gap of four years. The award-winning actress was last seen in acclaimed filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar’s critically and commercially successful film, ‘Mardaani’, which released in 2014. Rani had received a lot of praises for the portrayal of a tough cop in the movie. The makers of ‘Hichki’ are hopeful that her latest film will also garner the same kind of response at the cash counter.
‘Hichki’ is directed by Sidharth P Malhotra. Aditya Chopra has bankrolled the project under the banner of Yash Raj Films. The film will now lock horns with Pritish Chakraborty’s ‘Mangal Ho’ and Tabrez Noorani’s ‘Love Sonia’ on 23rd March.
