Besides Rajkummar Rao, if there is any other actor who could successfully show his versatility to the audience in 2017, it has to be none other than Ayushmann Khurrana. The actor appeared in three films last year, namely ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’. His first release ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’ did not fare well at the box office. However, his last two films – ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ – did not only garner critical acclaim but also went to become commercially successful.
Khurrana started 2018 with the shooting of his next film, ‘Badhaai Ho’. Also starring ‘Dangal’ (2016) fame Sanya Malhotra in the lead role, the film is being directed by Amit Sharma, while Junglee Pictures is onboard as producers.
The latest we hear that the ‘Vicky Donor’ (2012) actor has reportedly given his nod to star in popular cinematographer Satish Reddy Parpally’s directorial debut, ‘Peechle Kal Hi’. Satish, who has previously cinematographed the blockbuster film ‘Dabangg’ (2010) and many more, is now branching out to direction. Some reports suggest that he had a couple of meetings with the actor recently and both almost locked the project.
Though nothing more is known about the film as yet, some sources say it will be a light-hearted rom-com. Also, no female lead has been finalized as yet. However, buzz has it that makers are keen to rope in a fresh face for the project.
Meanwhile, besides ‘Badhaai Ho’, Ayushmann Khurrana will also be seen in acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghvan’s upcoming suspense thriller ‘Shoot The Piano Player’. The film also features seasoned actress Tabu and Radhika Apte in key roles.
