Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who was last seen in Dinesh Vijan’s directorial debut ‘Raabta’ (2017), has shared his first look from the forthcoming film ‘Sonchiriya’. The talented actor plays a Chambal dacoit in the film which is set in the 1970s and revolves around dacoits inhabiting the region in that period.
Sharing the picture on Twitter, Sushant wrote, “SONCHIRIYA #AbhishekChaubey @RSVPMovies @RonnieScrewvala @honeytrehan @psbhumi @BajpayeeManoj @RanvirShorey @ashutoshrana10.”
In the picture, the 32-year-old actor looks slovenly with disheveled hair and frowzy mustache and beard, with a rifle placed right beside him. If his first look is anything to go by, we can say that ‘Sonchiriya’ is going to be a raw and edgy film.
Directed by ‘Udta Punjab’ (2016) fame Abhishek Chaubey, ‘Sonchiriya’ features Bhumi Pednekar as the female lead. The film recently mounted the shooting floors but Sushant, who can go to any length to get into the skin of his character, had reached the shooting location 3 weeks before the shoot commenced, to prepare for his role. The actor familiarized himself with the language and feel of the terrain before starting the shoot.
“Sushant is playing a dacoit for the first time and wanted to get into the character before the schedule starts so he will leave for the location on January 12 to spend time with a few former dacoits. He will also lose some muscle weight to look the rustic part as well as learn rifle-shooting,” says a source.
Apart from Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar, ‘Sonchiriya’ also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles. The film is a Ronnie Screwvala Production’s venture.
Meanwhile, Sushant Singh Rajput is simultaneously shooting for Abhishek Kapoor’s ‘Kedarnath’ and Tarun Mansukhani’s ‘Drive’. Both films are slated to release in 2018.
