If there is one film that the whole nation is waiting for with bated breath, it is none other than acclaimed filmmaker Shankar’s ‘2.0’. Starring the two biggest superstars of Indian cinema – Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar – in lead roles, the film began its production in 2015. Now, it has been more than two years since ‘2.0’ started rolling, but no one has any idea about the exact release date of the film.
After being delayed two times, the film was slated to arrive in cinemas on 27th April 2007. However, the latest we hear that it might miss its release date on 27th April as a large chunk of its post-production work is yet to be finished.
As we all know that the shooting of the mega-budgeted movie has been wrapped up months back and currently it is in post-production stage. The exhaustive VFX and post-production work is taking a lot of time and the team is missing its deadline to complete the job over and again. As a major part of the work is yet to be done, the makers have reportedly decided to delay the film till August.
The news has been confirmed by film industry tracker and entertainment journalist Surendhar MK. While speaking exclusively with a leading portal, he said, “The film will not release in April. The movie has been pushed by a few months. The makers are planning on a mid-August release” informed Surendhar.
It is not the first time when the release date of ‘2.0’ has been deferred. The movie was first scheduled to release on Diwali 2017. It was pitted against Rohit Shetty comic-caper, ‘Golmaal Again’ (2017). However, the makers decided to postpone the film and come on 26th January. But they had to take a back step as some big films had already locked the much sought-after slot. After that, ‘2.0’ rescheduled to release on 27th April 2018.
However, as things stand today, it is highly unlikely for the film to make its entry in cinemas on 27th April. Looks like fans will have to wait a little longer before feasting their eyes on the costliest film of Indian cinema.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of his social-drama film, ‘Pad Man’ which is poised for its theatrical release on 9th February.
