    Romantic comedy ‘Ready’ was the second Salman Khan starrer which kept the cash register jingling and raked in more than Rs. 100 crore at the box-office. It was a remake of the 2008 hit Telugu film of the same name, directed by Sreenu Vaitla starring Ram and Genelia. Also starring Asin, Paresh Rawal and Mahesh Manjrekar in pivotal roles, Ready’ witnessed an overwhelming response and opened to packed houses. The Anees Bazmee directorial registered better opening of nearly 95%–100% occupancy in single screens, while multiplexes reported 60% to 100% occupancy. Resultantly, the film pulled in a whooping Rs. 40 crore in its first weekend. It made Rs. 13.25 crore on Friday, Rs. 11.75 crore on Saturday and Rs. 15 crore on Sunday. By the end of its first week at the box-office, the movie collected Rs. 68.02 and became a profitable venture for all the investors involved.

    Though the audience gave thumbs up to the movie, critics panned it for its ordinary story and average direction and performances. But not affected at all by reviews, the film received excellent word of mouth and enjoyed good run at the ticket window and collected around 119.78 crores from the domestic market. Adding around Rs 63 crores from the international market, the film made a total box-office earning of Rs. 184 crore. Songs like ‘Character dheela’ and ‘Dhinka chika’ from the film became instant hits and are still popular.

    TRIVIA: Paresh Rawal’s mother passed during the shooting of the film but being a professional he continued with his work and worst part was shoot comedy scenes.
